Aluminium is a ductile, non-magnetic metallic element and the third most abundant element in the Earth’s crust. It has a low density of approximately 2.6–2.7 g/cm³, a high strength-to-weight ratio and good corrosion resistance. Producing primary aluminium from bauxite is energy-intensive and generates approximately 9.85 kg CO₂e/kg. Recycled aluminium is produced by sorting, cleaning and remelting aluminium waste. It requires approximately 5% of the energy used to produce primary aluminium and generates approximately 0.7 kg CO₂e/kg. Aluminium can be repeatedly remelted while retaining its material properties and processability, provided that impurities are properly controlled. Alloying elements such as copper and silicon can be added to improve its castability and mechanical properties. Aluminium alloys are widely used in motor vehicles, motorcycles, precision machinery and everyday products. The lock casing and door panel are made from aluminium alloy containing 80% post-consumer recycled (PCR) aluminium, as verified by SGS. These components account for approximately 50% of the total weight of the lock box. After use, the aluminium casing can be recycled again to produce aluminium alloy without affecting its reprocessing performance.more
