According to the Fisheries Research Institute, COA, Taiwan, an average of 160,000 metric tons of oyster shells per year are produced from 2007 to 2018. Although more than 80% of oyster shells were used for feeding, compost, and seedling cultivation, there were still 23,000 metric tons of discarded oyster shells that couldn’t be properly handled.
