EVOH high-barrier co-extruded film is a composite film that uses ethylene–vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) as its core barrier layer. It is combined with materials such as polyethylene (PE) through multilayer co-extrusion. A common structure is PE/Tie/EVOH/Tie/PE. EVOH offers excellent gas-barrier properties. Its oxygen transmission rate (OTR) is approximately 0.3–1.5 cc/m²·day·atm for a 20 µm film at 20°C and 65% relative humidity. This reduces the amount of oxygen entering the package, slowing food oxidation and quality deterioration. Because EVOH provides relatively poor resistance to water vapour, PE is incorporated to provide moisture protection. The resulting structure has a water-vapour transmission rate (WVTR) of approximately 2–10 g/m²·24 h. This film provides product preservation, aroma retention and transparency. It is widely used for vacuum food packaging, modified-atmosphere packaging (MAP), medical packaging, cosmetic packaging and other applications requiring high-barrier performance. more
