Polyamide 11 (PA11) is a bio-based nylon whose raw material is derived entirely from castor oil extracted from castor seeds. Castor is a non-food, non-genetically modified crop, so its use as a raw material does not compete with food production. The fabric is woven and calendered on the reverse side. For fabrics produced through melt spinning, high-temperature calendering increases the fabric’s structural coverage and density. This reduces air permeability and improves wind resistance. As the calendering temperature increases, bonding between the fibres becomes stronger. The fabric is therefore less likely to return to its original structure after washing, improving its dimensional stability during laundering. A fluorine-free water-repellent finish is used. It contains no per- or polyfluoroalkyl substances and forms a hydrophobic layer on the fibre surfaces, reducing water penetration and improving water resistance. The fabric is suitable for functional garments such as windproof jackets.more
