According to data from the Ministry of Environment, Taiwan produces several thousand tons of food waste each year and is often incinerated or buried, resulting in environmental pollution to the air and soil. In order to mitigate this issue, the biological method of using black water gadflies to decompose food waste was born. Black water gadflies are a natural organism that decompose organic matter (food waste) as their primary food source as they grow from egg to pupa; studies show that black water gadfl are composed of 47.3% protein, 32.6% fat, 7.0% ash, amino acid nitrogen content is 280 mg/100 g, and the cholesterol content is 172.7 mg/100 g. These substances just happen to be the nutrients needed by poultry animals for growth which is why this substance utilizes dried black water gadfly as animal feed. more
