SECAO® yarn is derived from Taiwan’s local cocoa industry, where cocoa shells, originally regarded as agricultural waste after the cocoa beans are removed, are recovered and upcycled into high-performance yarns and fabrics through an innovative process. The cocoa shells undergo a series of processes, including natural sun-drying, patented degradation and saccharification, pelletising, filament spinning, yarn spinning and weaving, to produce a technical fabric with high breathability and elasticity. Through advanced textile technology, the fabric is given a soft hand feel and a skin-friendly, comfortable touch, while offering excellent moisture-wicking, abrasion resistance and ultraviolet (UV) resistance. It is suitable for sportswear and other functional apparel. The naturally occurring amino acids in cocoa shells contribute to the breathability and moisture-retention properties of SECAO® fabric. The yarn has also completed carbon footprint verification. more
