Tapioca Starch Masterbatch

1/

This PlasFree Masterbatch (PFM) thermoplastic starch (TPS) is based on 90% tapioca starch and 10% biodegradable material. It is produced using patented hydrophobic-modification technology and a planetary mixer and has a bio-based carbon content of up to 80%. The modified masterbatch is water-resistant and can withstand temperatures below 100°C. It overcomes the tendency of conventional starch composites to absorb water and their limited heat resistance, thereby improving processing stability and product durability. The starch masterbatch can be compounded with various thermoplastic materials and is suitable for blown-film extrusion, injection moulding and sheet extrusion. It can be incorporated at a proportion of 40–50%, reducing the amount of plastic required. It can also be used directly to manufacture disposable tableware that can decompose through composting after use. The product has obtained AS 5810 home-compostability certification and DIN bio-based-content certification. more
