Eggshell Low Density Polyethylene Masterbatch

Discarded eggshells are washed and calcined at 900°C to produce eggshell-derived biocalcium powder, whose main component is calcium oxide. The powder is melt-compounded at a ratio of 70% biocalcium powder to 30% linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) to produce a modified LDPE masterbatch (GEX-00E). The material has antibacterial properties, with inhibition rates exceeding 99.9% against Escherichia coli and Staphylococcus aureus. It can also replace a proportion of petroleum-derived raw materials, thereby reducing the plastic content. The modified masterbatch can be processed into packaging films through blown-film extrusion while retaining the flexibility, toughness, moisture resistance and water resistance of LDPE. The relevant materials have been tested against applicable FDA, RoHS, SVHC and SGS EN 13430 requirements, as well as for antibacterial performance and can be used in electronic packaging, textiles and medical devices. more
