In a 2021 report, the United Nations Environment Programme warned that global food loss and waste plays a key role in global warming as it accounts for 8-10% of greenhouse gas emissions. As a solution to this problem, color-changing coating technology is applied to PP labels for leftover food. This allows monitoring of the cold chain transport process such as production, storage, transport, packaging, and retail aspects in the food supply chain to reduce food loss and waste. These new labels can facilitate with keeping ingredients fresh and managing them to mitigate climate change. more
