Banana is one of the most abundant economic crops in Taiwan, and the banana leaves were used as fertilizer in the past. Cellulose, hemicellulose and lignin are the main chemical composition of banana leaf. Its cellulose content is lower than that of flax and jute, and the content of hemicellulose and lignin is higher, so the banana leaf fiber has slightly lesser luster, softness, elasticity, and spinnability compare with flax and jute. The industry extracts banana leaves fiber and blend with textiles. This fabric is made of 60% cotton and 40% Abacell fiber (abaca fiber). The banana leaves are made into abacell fiber after scraping, drying, dividing, twisting, and winding. It has the characteristics of soft, wear resistance, anti UV, antibacterial, humidity control, breathable, deodorant and bio-degradable. Applicable for jeans, shoes, bags and other clothing products. more
